Southwest Michigan FileMaker Users Group - June 09
Thanks to everyone that stopped by for my presentation on “Business Automation Using FileMaker Server 10”. As developers, we have some great new tools that can now run server side and help us make our automated processes more robust and eliminate the need for FileMaker “robots”. During the meeting, Trevor asked about how FileMaker Server handles unsupported script steps and I wasn’t certain. I gave it a quick test this morning and here’s what I found:
- When Allow User Abort is “Off”, each unsupported script step is written to the log, but the script continues.
- When Allow User About is NOT “Off”, the script is aborted and returns an error when the first unsupported script step is encountered.
- Unsupported script steps that are contained in an “If” statement that returns false are not executed by the script and do not cause an error.
- You can use LeftWords ( Get ( ApplicationVersion ) ; 1 ) = "Server" to determine if the script is being run by Server.
We had some new people this time so a warm welcome to Karl Ermatinger from Industrial Control, Kevin Veltman from Oakland Schools and Mike from the Foundation For Behavioral Resources.
My presentation slides are attached below. See you next time!

Great presentation. This would be a great essay topic when I'm writing essay at school. I'm quite inspired of the presentation you have delivered. Thanks for sharing this!
