Crash -- Intel Core 2 Duo

I have distributed a runtime and one client can't seem to get the plugin to work. FileMaker keeps crashing when she initially opens the runtime and the plugin attempts to register.

I had her manually download the plugin today (so it is up-to-date) and replace it, still "beach balls" and then crashes.

The strange thing is that she is on an Intel Mac, yet FileMaker Get (SystemPlatform) = -1 which means she is on a PPC. I googled for this error, but didn't find any information.

We tried deleting the Intel plugin and trying the PPC version; no crash this time but the plugin doesn't function.

Here is her hardware system profile:

    Model Name: MacBook
    Model Identifier: MacBook3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MB31.008E.B01
    SMC Version (system): 1.24f2
    Serial Number (system): W8744EMFZ62
    Hardware UUID: 3B619D0B-7A00-5CD1-B5AC-F58ADBAAEE24
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled

Crash -- Intel Core 2 Duo

Hello Bill,

Which version of FileMaker is she using? If it's before 8.5, then it would be running in Rosetta and you would have to use the PPC version. If it's 8.5 or above, right click on the FileMaker app file and "Get Info". Look for the "Open using Rosetta" checkbox and make sure it's unchecked. As long as you're running 8.5 or above and the Rosetta checkbox isn't checked, then the Intel version should work.

Micah
